Policy – Github

We are currently asking all IPPP users that store git repositories on GitHub that my need to be shared/handed over to another contributor once you leave the IPPP to join the IPPP GitHub Org and either transfer the repo to the Org or create it within the org unit.

This will ensure that access can be retained even if you loose access to your GitHub account.

If you cannot use our organisation for varying reasons, then please contact us.

We also have our own hosted GitLab too which may be a useful alternative.

Github and AI

Please be aware that from the 24th April 2026 GitHub will by default scrape most private data to train the Copilot AI models on Free, Pro and Pro+ tiers. This however can be opted-out manually. We would highly recommend doing so however you may legally need to do so if your hosted code/data is under NDA, Embargo or has restricted Intellectual Property (IP).
